  • Area/Time:         Full Pitch  (10mins = 1 set)

ORGANISATION:
Mark out  the cones on a full standard soccer pitch as shown in the diagram.   Approx. 100yrds in total length (whole pitch), cones mark the corners as mnarkers to run around.   
INSTRUCTIONS:

From the start position run (90%mHR) around the perimeter of the pitch clockwise.  Run 3/4 of the perimeter and then walk along the last goal line back to the start.  Aim to complete the 3/4 length run in 50 secs.

REST (Recovery should be (Run Time - 10 secs)
Repeat x6 = 1set.  (Approx 10-12 mins)

REST 5 mins

Repeat a second set, but start from the opposite corner (so players are turning left and running anit-clockwise.

SCORING:
None.
KEY COACHING POINTS:
  1. Good technique on the dynamic stretches and also the fast feet activities.  Monitor both hand/arm and feet movement.
 
PROGRESSIONS:
  1. Increase the distance between the cones to 20yrds.
  2. Reduce the rest period to 3 minutes to increase the intensity of the activity.
 
VARIATIONS:
  1. Modify the circuit and change the jogging sections into cruise (75% maximal effort) to increase the aerobic nature of this activity.
 
NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS:
Make sure the players are being pushed.  At the same time not overworked.  Give opportunity for drinks during rest breaks.
