ORGANISATION:
For each group 5 flat cones are spaced out at 5yrd intervals (increase distance to 10 yrds for endurance work). Next to the final 4 flat cones place a tall cone. 20yrd lines, approx 10 yrds between groups. Organize players into 2 (or more) teams. Like a relay race each player will take their turn and then rest.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Like a relay race each player will take their turn and then rest. Players go out and retrieve the tall cones from next to each flat cones and return them to the start cone. They can only bring back one cone at a time. Once they have retreived all four cones back to the start cone, the player then proceeds to go back out and replace all the tall cones back next to a flat cone again. Note: Tall cones must be placed within a 1yrd radius of the flat cones at all times. Once all the tall cones have been retreived and put back by a players he tags the next player who performs the activity whilst the first player rests.
SCORING:
First team to have all cones retreived by each individual in the team is the winner.
KEY COACHING POINTS:
Encourage the players to cheer each other on!
Good technique in the turns.
PROGRESSIONS:
Reduce recovery times between exercise bouts to 1min or less.
VARIATIONS:
Increase the distance between the cones to make into a more endurance type activity.
Have up to 3 race lines. Allow players to grab any cone from any line (i.e. steal from other teams lines!) Players still have to retreive and return 3 cones.
Perform number 2 but with connected players (connect by holding pinnies).
NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS:
This can be a fun fitness game if played at the correct intensity. Encourage the players to make recovery runs and also transition quickly on attack.
