Soccer Passing Drills

The two most important technical skills in soccer, and the two technical skills used mostly in a game, receiving the ball and passing the ball. On 80% of occasions when a player receives the ball he will pass to another player. Inaccurate passes is therefore paramount to successfull team play. Optimum efficiency can only be acheived by mastering passing technique and performing repeated passing activites. High level successful teams have been shown to play the ball short (less than 30yrds), instead of long passes the majority of the time.

1. Players need to learn to play accurate passes without opposition.
2. Players need to be comfortable at short passing before attempting long passing.
3. Players need to be competent at short and long passes before attempting aerial passes.
