Diagram 1
ORGANISATION:
Using a 25x25yrd grid, with 4 feeder (wall pass) players ont eh sides of the grid.  In the middle of the grid its 2vs2.

INSTRUCTIONS:
  • The teams in the middle of the grid can combine with the feeder (side players).  Essentially making this game 6vs2.
  • The wall passers have 2 touch and are asked to pass within 5 secs of receiving the ball.
  • Side players (feeders in yellow) cannot pass to each other.
  • The feeders can move up and down the lines they are assigned and cannot move into the grid.
  1. A2 uses F3 to help keep possesion and combine with A1.
  2. F3 passes to A1 to maintain possession.
  3. A1 passes into F4 to maintain possession.

SCORING:
  • Identify a specific number of consecutive passes the attacking team needs to complete before a point is scored (for example; 6.  6 passes would equal a point.
  • Play for 5 minutes and then rotate the players.

KEY COACHING POINTS:
  1. Keep the ball speed high (pass the ball quickly with limited touches).
  2. Players without the ball must move within the grid to create good passing angles.
  3. Move to good angles as the ball is in motion, not after the the passer has received the ball.
  4. Players who pass the balll should move immediately afterwards to take up good positions to support.
  5. Ensure passes to fellow attackers are such that they can be controlled to their advantage (infront, good weight of pass, on ground, receiving open to the field).
  6. The ball shouldn't have to be passed diagonally across the grid if the supporting angles are good and runs are made early.

PROGRESSIONS:
  1. 1 touch by the feeder (wall passers).
  2. 2 touch maximum by the middle players.
  3. Side Players can pass to each other 1 touch.
VARIATIONS:
  1. Place 2 defenders in the middle holding a pinnie together (so they are joined).  This makes the defender(s) bigger, but a little more slow as they need to communicate and work together.  They cannot intercept the ball if they are not joined by the pinnie.

NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS:
This game should help increase speed of play and quick attacking combinations.  In particular wall passing.  Minimum touches should be taken on the ball to keep the ball speed high.
