ORGANISATION:
Mark out a grid is 20 x 40yrds or 20x30yrds for more advanced players. Play 4vs4. The field size for this small sided soccer game is generally smaller.
INSTRUCTIONS:

2 teams compete to try and score by knocking over the solitary traffic cone positioned 3-4yrds in from the end lines. Kick-ins on the side lines.

SCORING:
Score by knocking over the traffic cone (pointed cone) with the ball. Progressions for scoring can be as follows.
KEY COACHING POINTS:
  1. Good support for the player with the ball, move to support him/her.
  2. Spread out on attack.
  3. Patience to build up attacks and potentially score by working the ball behind the cone and blocking defenders.
  4. Accurate finishing, sidefoot close range.
  5. Quick transitions to create easy scoring opportunities.
PROGRESSIONS:
  1. Play two touch.
VARIATIONS:
  1. To make this game easier for younger players: Place 3 traffic (pointed) cones together to make up the target. Players can now earn up to 3 points for knocking all 3 cones in one shot. Usually the 3 cones are set up in a 1/2 yard triangle.
  2. Kick-ins can be taken by the player who gets to the ball first when it is knocked out of play.
NOTES AND OBSERVATIONS:
This is a great drill for making the players focus on accurate placement finishing. The smaller area than standard (20x30yrds) if used promotes tight control and good 1vs1 technique. This is also a tremendous street soccer (football) game which originated in Holland.
