Develop the ability to overload in the attacking phase.
Diagram 1. Set-Up Arrangement
Mark out a pitch of 40x60 yrds for 5vs5. Field dimensions should be adjusted depending on the number of players. Full size goals can be used.
2 teams compete and attempt to score in the opponents goal. There is one condition: Every player on the team in possession must have touched the ball at least once during that possession for that team to be allowed to score. In the example in the diagram above:
A1 passes to A2 who continues to circulate the ball to A3.
A3 passes to A4 who lays the ball back to A5.
Now that every play on the yellow team has touched the ball they are able to shoot.
A5 can pass the ball for another player to shoot if he/she desires.
Teams score by in the regular goals once the condition of the game has been satisfied.
Everyone must contribute to the attack, even those players in defense.
Players must communicate if they have not had the ball yet.
Players must be switched on and focused so they are aware of who needs to touch the ball for them to go on and score.
Getting all the players involved in the attacking phase will help create numbers up scenarios.
