Attacking Transition and Supporting Target Players.
Playing Out the Back.
Diagram 1. Set-Up Arrangement
Mark out a pitch of 20x10 yrds, with a half way line clearly marked.
Split the players into an attacking team and a defending team. The attacking team has 5 players and the defending team one.
The four attacking players attempt by keeping possession obtain 6 consecutive passes. Once the they have got 6 consecutive passes they attempt to play the ball forward into a target player in the opposite grid. If successful, the 2 side players (2,4) sprint across to support player 5a and player 1 becomes the target in the opposite direction.
If the defender wins the ball, they have to dribble over a side line of the grid to change with an attacker.
6 consecutive passes and successful pass into a target.
Principles of Possession (patience, support).
Attacking Transition. Support quickly.
Keep possession until good forward passing opportunities arise.
