Diagram 1. Set-Up Arrangement
Using a half field approx. 35x30 yrds set up 3 zones that are distinguishable to the players (10 yrds apart). Split the teams into 5vs5 ( 4 outfield players and a goalkeeper). If more players are available expand the playing area.
2 teams compete to try and score in the soccer goals under the restriction that the finishing player must take no more than the touches allowed for that zone. In the zone closest to the opponents goal it is strictly 1 touch finishing. Middle zone is 2 touch. The zone closest to your own goal is 3 or more touches.
A1 one plays a wall pass into A2 and step up unmarked to receive the pass back.
A1 steps up to receive the ball back.
A2 plays the 1-2.
A1 shoots on goal and is sure to take only 2 touches (i.e. one to control the ball and one to shoot).
Score in the regular goals normal to start.
Designate a target number of goals (i.e. 10 to win the game).
Attitude to take shots and score!
Create space with good runs.
Look for quick combinations.
Look for rebounds.
Increase the distances of the zones. 15 yrds apart.
Play 3vs3 + 1 Neutral to create more shooting opportunities.
