Diagram 1. Set-Up Arrangement
Set-Up
- Using the penalty area and a full size goal set up the cones as shown in the diagram above. The drill begins with 3 players positioned by the cones. The 2 outside feeders have a collection of balls. During this drill the feeders are constantly changing based on the rotation pattern.
Instructions
- A1 starts with the ball and the following sequence occurs:
- A1 passes the ball into A2.
- A1 runs forward.
- A2 lays the ball off for A1 to strike 2 touch (can progress to 1 touch).
- A1 shoots using a driven/laces shot.
- A1 then takes A2's position on the first cone.
- A2 spins out and runs in.
- A3 plays a pass in for A2 to finish.
- A2 finishes the ball.
- A3 then plays a 2nd ball out to A2.
- A3 moves after he passes the ball for a 1-2 (wall pass).
- A2 lays this ball back at an angle.
- A2 takes A3's place and A3 strikes a shot on goal (usually a shot to the far post).
- After the shot A3 goes to the back of the line.
- The rotation starts with the other line on the right hand side.
Scoring
- None. Players can however keep individual tallies.
Coaching Points
- Good driven shooting technique (Knee & Shoulder over ball, non-kicking foot, etc.)
- Correct technique for each attempt on goal.
- Hit the target (force a save from the goal keeper).
- Shots should be low and hard.
- Side foot (in-step finish) on close range shots.
- Head the ball downwards.
- Finish at game speed.
Progressions
- Progression 1. Driven and Aerial Crosses
- A1 passes the ball into A2.
- A1 then runs forward.
- A2 lays off the ball to A1 to shoot.
- A1 shoots (Driven/Laces shot).
- A1 then takes A2's place.
- A2 spins out and runs in towards goal.
- A3 plays a cross into A2 (On the ground and also aerial).
- A2 finishes the crossed ball.
- A2 takes A3's place.
- A3 goes to the back of the line.
- The rotation begins again from the other side.

Variations
- 2 Touch finishes.
- 1 Touch finishes.
- Require one foot finishing (i.e. left or right).
