Diagram 1. Set-Up Arrangement
Mark out playing area 50x70 yrds with a 15 yrd wide central zone across the field.
2 Full size goals with GKs and 2 sets of balls positioned at the half way line of the playing area. 4 teams of 4 players.
Can also be played 3vs3 in a smaller area.
Both ends of the field play simultaneously with two teams attacking the goals at either end.
Teams play 4vs4 at either end. In the diagram above, blue and yellow are attacking.
Red and green are defending. Offside’s do apply. When the ball goes out, or to the GK, the attacking team returns to the central zone and retrieves a ball from the half way line. If the defending team manages to recover/win the ball they can score by playing out to the half way line and placing their foot on the ball.
Alternatively small goals can be placed on the half way line.
The first team to score wins. When there is a score rotate the teams. I.e. Green and Red now attacking.
Encourage players to be creative!
Diagonal runs and Overlaps, take-over’s, 1-2’s to disorientate the defense.
Play fast and at a high tempo to not let the defensive line get set and organized.
Promote individuality, get the ball wide and expose defenders 1vs1!
Through passes weighted behind the defense.
Timing of supporting runs to break the offside trap.
Quality of finishing, hit the target with follow ups.
Move players around one by one.
Players must pass to a certain colour.
Add defenders to try and steal possession.
Defenders make 8 consecutive passes after regaining possession they become the attacking team.
