Set Up
- 35x25 yrd area. 1 Full Size Goal.
- Players are positioned at 3 stations. Each station is 17 yrds apart with footballs distributed equally amongst the stations.
- Phase 1 = Driven shot on the run following an unopposed feint. Followed by running (looping) around Station 2.
- Phase 2 = Passes a diagonal pass across the 18yrd area to be finished from the player at Station 3.
- Phase 3 = Station 2 passer joins the Station 3 player in the box for a cross from the looping player from Station 1.
- Players return to a different station following the 3 Phases.
- After a set period of time (i.e. 5 mins) the sequence is switched to the opposite side and the service now comes from the left side of the field.
Coaching Points
- Positioning of the plant foot.
- Plant foot toe pointing at the target.
- Assess the gks positioning.
- Decision based on looking up prior to shot.
- Arms should be used to maintain balance.
- Instep finish pushing the ball into a corner.
- Attitude to finish on each repetition.
- Quick build up play with limited touches.
- Service into a 'second six' yard area.
- Timing of runs into area (arriving late).
- Composure in front of goal.
- Re-cycling of runs.
- Occupying both near and far post areas.
Progressions
- Perform on both sides of the field.
- 2nd & 3rd ball now come in from opposite side.
